Individuality in Relationships

August 7, 2017

Being married or in a relationship does not have to mean that we loose our own identity. Partners can sometimes feel jealous  or agitated when their partner has a hobby or something that they prefer to do alone. Just because one is in a relationship does not mean they have to give themselves up totally. Rewarding relationships can include the significant other supporting the other persons hobbies and embracing differences. American culture focuses on individuality, but it sometimes gets lost in the context of a relationship. This does not mean that we should ignore each other in a relationship to pursue our own goals, it just means that we shouldn't loose our identities. I say it's time for us to embrace ourselves again and open up our doors to our partners.
