Panic Attacks

Panic attacks can be a frightening thing for the person experiencing it, especially for the first time. One may feel shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, shaking, racing heart, dizziness and a detachment from surroundings. A person might feel as if they could die, lose control, are going crazy and scared. These may also be symptoms of a more serious medical condition and an emergency visit or doctor's office should be contacted. While panic attacks can be scary, most of the time the person is safe and able to gain control again. Panic attacks are treated with anxiety medication, breathing techniques, understanding triggers, exposure therapy, counseling, relaxation techniques, and cognitive behavioral techniques. The longer a person waits the more intense the panic attacks could get, so professional help is necessary.
